The Power of Prayer: Testimonies of God’s Answers from CITA Missionaries

19 May 2025

God hears. He cares. Prayer isn’t just a religious ritual—it’s a living conversation with a loving Father who sees and knows everything. Whether in joy or despair, in calm or in storm, prayer opens the door to God’s presence, His strength, and His support.

Prayer is a tool God has given us to connect with Him—so we can experience His care, mercy, and glory firsthand.

Prayer changes circumstances. God steps in supernaturally: He saves, heals, provides, opens new doors… You’ll see this power in action in the following stories from CITA missionaries.

“Lord, please bless this girl—may she be healthy, blessed, and a good mom.” With a sincere heart, minister and pastor Serhii from the Kharkiv region lifted up this prayer to God.

In that room, he knelt before the Almighty alongside the parents of a gravely ill girl who had lost all hope.

Serhii had known the family for a long time. The father often helped him with ministry needs. They had two grown, married daughters. One of them had struggled with health issues since childhood, survived cancer at a young age, and was told by doctors that she would never be able to have children.

Later, for reasons the doctors couldn’t explain, her condition worsened drastically. That’s when minister Serhii stepped in to intercede for her.

“I prayed sincerely for the Lord to meet this family in their need. God filled my mouth—I was surprised by what I was saying. And when they heard me pray, ‘may she be a good mom,’ they broke into tears. Honestly, I felt heartbroken too, because we all knew the doctors’ verdict.”

But soon after that prayer, the girl’s father was able to connect with some specialists. They did a thorough evaluation and finally gave her a diagnosis. After treatment, she returned home, able to walk out of the hospital without help.

And some time later, Serhii got surprising news from her older sister—the girl was pregnant! The whole family agreed: this could only be God.

Today, that young mom is getting her God-given son ready for his first year of school.

“Lord, please give our family a car.” God answered this prayer from 9-year-old Mykhailo, son of minister Ivan from Zaporizhzhia, in just a month and a half. Here’s how it happened.

The city where the minister and his wife serve is large and located near the front lines of war. It’s difficult to get around, and their children’s ministry clubs are spread across town. They badly needed a car—but they had no money and no connections who could help. All they could do was dream.

“Go ask Jesus,” someone from their church told little Mykhailo.

And that’s exactly what he did.

“A family friend of ours moved abroad,” Ivan shared, “and we started using his car, agreeing to pay for it in installments. So now we’re driving. Sure, it’s tough learning to drive with a manual transmission, but we’re figuring it out.”

“Our gentle and caring mom and grandma.” That’s how people at our church lovingly described sister Valia.
Minister and pastor Viktor from the Mykolaiv region remembers her well—even back in the 1990s.

Valia was a kind woman with a tough life. A mother of four, three of whom struggled with serious issues. A grandmother to a granddaughter who battled addiction. And a great-grandmother raising her great-granddaughter.

She cried many tears in prayer for her family. She went home to be with the Lord, and still—none of her loved ones had turned to God.

In 2022, during the war, life became hard for everyone. More people began attending the church in Nova Odesa. Among them was Valia’s daughter, Maya.

She gratefully accepted help from the church, and later began sharing how God was softening her heart and lifting the weight off her shoulders.

“A mother’s prayer is never wasted,” Viktor said. “Fourteen years after sister Valia passed away, the seed of the Word finally took root—her daughter turned to God. And we can see the joy in her eyes—they’re glowing!”
