The Gospel from Ukraine to Honduras: How Did the Partnership Begin?
5 May 2025
In the summer of 2022, missionary and ministry director of Christ Is The Answer (CITA), Taras Sen, visited Honduras—a country in Central America—for the first time.
The main goal of the trip was to connect with local ministers, exchange ideas about sharing the Gospel, and introduce the tools that CITA uses in its ministry work.
Since then, local churches in Honduras have adopted several of CITA’s evangelism tools—like eye clinics, evangelistic newspapers, and calendars.
To support church growth, the Ukrainian missionary also introduced another tool for ministers: he encouraged them to begin hosting family conferences in their congregations.
So how did it all start? And what happened during CITA’s first trip to Honduras? Read on to find out.

Taras Sen’s few days in Honduras were filled with meaningful events. The schedule included preaching at a host church, a training session for local ministers on organizing eye clinics, the first ever clinic event, a family conference, healing prayers, and food distribution for low-income families.
“I’m grateful to God for giving us the opportunity to share our experience and preach the Word in Honduras,” said Taras Sen. “We’re praying for local churches to begin hosting family-focused events that pass on spiritual values to the next generation and lead people to Christ. As a ministry, we’re committed to spreading the Gospel across Central and South America by strengthening local churches in their mission and spiritual growth. I sincerely thank our partners, prayer supporters, and everyone who contributes to this work. What we do together is something great in God’s eyes.”
Training and Launching Eye Clinics
“People become more open to God’s Word when they experience simple acts of care—like receiving free glasses and an eye exam,” said Taras Sen during a training for local ministers learning how to run outreach eye clinics.
He explained the benefits of these charitable events, emphasizing how effective they are. According to him, eye clinics are not only accessible but also powerful: once the first clinic takes place, word spreads quickly—like wildfire. People start hearing about the free glasses and show up in large numbers. These events often motivate church members to boldly preach the Gospel when they see dozens of people in need of salvation.

The first eye clinic served one hundred people. While waiting for their eye exams, attendees enjoyed live music played on saxophone and trumpet, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

“I’m truly grateful for the chance to be part of this ministry,” said ophthalmologist Erika Montoya. “I thank God for the opportunity to help those who really need it. It would be amazing if more clinics like this could be held in other towns—so many people with low incomes can’t afford glasses, and this initiative can genuinely improve their lives.”
Family Conference

As a husband and father of six, Taras Sen regularly encourages pastors to organize family gatherings in their churches. He stresses the importance of building and strengthening family relationships, hoping that ministers will take up this initiative and begin a new tradition—hosting family nights and actively ministering to married couples in their communities.

Taras believes older couples should pass on their experience of marriage to younger ones.
During the conference, he shared 12 keys to a happy marriage, which included points like: understanding your roles as husband and wife, praying together, seeking God’s will as a couple, and spending intentional time communicating.
“Problems arise in families when a man is glued to his car and the woman is glued to her girlfriends,” he noted, “but God’s Word teaches us to cling to the Lord, to one another, and to what is good.”

These gatherings are built on biblical principles for strengthening relationships. They feature a romantic atmosphere, fun games to rekindle love, and even “homework” for the husbands: take your wife out on a date.

“We’re genuinely grateful to God for this amazing event,” shared Nelson Zuniga and Lilia Valesillo. “We believe it will be a huge blessing to our community—not only for believers, but for everyone who hears what was shared. As Psalm 133:1 says, ‘Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!’ Living in unity as one big family is what we are all called to do.”

“This was a powerful and enriching experience,” added Dayton Galdames and Claudia Mejia. “We realized that our first and most important calling is to care for our own family—because it’s the first thing God has entrusted to us. For our families to be strong, Jesus Christ must be at the center. This event truly blessed us and inspired us to strengthen our marriages in light of God’s Word.”
During one of the church services, Taras Sen preached on The Lord’s Prayer and prayed for healing. One special outreach included distributing food packages to those in need.

“We sincerely thank God for the visit of this missionary from Ukraine,” said Pastor Marlon Blanco of the host church. “Through his teaching, the ministers’ seminars, and the family conference, we gained invaluable spiritual insight. Our guests traveled a long way and made a great effort to be here with us—their presence was a real blessing. We’re praying that the Lord will continue to richly bless them and all who support the Christ Is The Answer Ministry.”

Since 1999, children’s prayers have been broadcast annually on Honduran TV and radio.
Kids between 7 and 12 years old have become powerful intercessors—according to many testimonies, their prayers have helped prevent natural disasters and political crises.
For example, in 2012, during a spike in drug trafficking and violence, 8,000 children from different churches gathered in a stadium to pray for the future of their nation.
