Crusade in Ethiopia: God’s Power Transforms Lives

10 June 2025

In May, the 12th evangelistic crusade was held in Debre Zeit, Ethiopia, supported by the international ministry “Christ Is The Answer.”
As usual, during his trip, Ukrainian missionary and CITA director Taras Sen also led other evangelism efforts and church-planting activities across the region.

For four days, the power of the Holy Spirit was clearly at work—drawing people to God, healing diseases, and setting the oppressed free from unclean spirits.

“We prepared for a long time for this crusade—we prayed, fasted, sought the Lord, and asked for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God heard us and performed many miracles. I prayed for many people. On one hand, it’s not easy, but when you’re in an atmosphere of faith and you can feel God’s presence and power, you realize how real God is.
It’s such a joy to bring people the living Gospel, the mighty power of God, and salvation. Jesus, the Bible, faith in God—they’re not just words. They’re the power to save, to heal, and to set people free,” said crusade speaker Taras Sen.

“Our Passover Is Christ” and “The Divine Exchange at the Cross” were key themes Taras emphasized in Debre Zeit. He stressed that only the blood of Christ can protect us from the second death, and that Jesus took our diseases upon Himself and offered healing.

Taras urged people to bring their sins, curses, and struggles to Christ to receive forgiveness, blessing, and eternal life.

During the crusade, around 60 people were healed from various illnesses and physical conditions. One woman had suffered from leg issues for ten years—but during prayer, the Spirit of God healed her, and she began jumping with joy.

More than 80 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Over 70 people were set free from demonic bondage—including children, a pregnant woman, and a local witch doctor.

“The Word of God touched an Ethiopian witch doctor. The Holy Spirit came upon him, and demons began to manifest. We prayed for him for a long time—his face was twisted—but after a spiritual battle, freedom came. He was overjoyed and gave thanks to God for his deliverance,” Taras shared.

“What a joy to see people—especially children—who were tormented by demons, now rejoicing in their freedom, crying tears of joy. It’s hard to imagine they lived for years under such torment. But now, they’re free. They can live and rejoice!” the speaker concluded.

Other CITA Activities in Ethiopia During the Trip

Pastors’ Conference

During a two-day pastors’ conference, Taras Sen shared about how God is working in Ukraine during the war, his personal testimony of being released from captivity, and the ministry’s activities. He taught on balanced pastoral life and ministry, and gave special focus to family-related topics.

Eye Clinic

During the crusade, local ministers organized a three-day outreach, offering free eye exams and eyeglasses to over 1,000 people—including Muslims, Orthodox believers, Protestants, and people unaffiliated with any church. Everyone also heard the Gospel.

“I was given reading glasses—now I can read small print and check my balance! The eye clinic was well-organized. Doing good like this is wonderful, because many people still need glasses and eye care. May God bless you. Thank you!”
Asnakech Regasa, Debre Zeit resident.

“I’m so glad we had this program to help people with their eyesight. Thanks to the ministry that made this free clinic possible. This kind of outreach helps many people hear the Gospel and find salvation in Jesus Christ. Some even asked, ‘If I accept the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, is He the true God? Will He really help me and guide my life?’ I believe those questions will lead them to know Jesus. Huge thanks for organizing this! May the Lord bless you.”
Abebech Gebretsadik, Full Gospel Church.

Family Meeting

According to Taras Sen, family conferences for pastors, leaders, and their wives are always held in a warm, joyful atmosphere—with games, prizes, and uplifting fellowship. “We explored biblical principles for a happy family, studied Scripture passages about family relationships, and had couples write personal notes to one another on colorful cards with Bible verses in Amharic.”

Missionary Conference

Debre Zeit also hosted the second missionary conference for CITA ministers, focused on training, spiritual encouragement, fellowship, and practical solutions. This time, 80 participants gathered.

Over the three-day conference, Taras Sen taught on topics like ministering to people, the spiritual health of a pastor, working with people struggling with demonic oppression, financial stewardship, evangelism, and more. The ministers also prayed for each other, for peace in Ukraine and Ethiopia, and for the ministry’s work across different nations.

Fifteen graduates of the missionary school received their certificates, having completed three months of study.

“I’ve been serving at the Voice of Salvation Church for two years. In our church, we focus heavily on evangelism using the Christ Is The Answer newspaper. People reach out to us for prayer, and we invite them to church. Through the newspaper, some people have come to Christ and been baptized. It’s a powerful tool. I want to thank the ministry for the opportunity to serve together and for your constant support. God bless you.”
Fikre, missionary from the Gambela region.

“I’ve been serving in the city of Halaba since 1983. Before I joined CITA, we would gather people from various churches and minister to them. But since becoming part of the ministry, we’ve started holding evangelistic outreaches using the Christ Is The Answer newspaper. It has greatly helped our ministry because people reach out to us for prayer. We hand out the newspaper several times a week in crowded areas, and many people have turned to God and heard His Word.
Thanks to this paper, God gave me seven new souls, and I brought a family of three to the Lord—they’ve since been baptized.”
Missionary Samuel Wachiso.

“When we go out to preach the Gospel, we often use the Christ Is The Answer newspapers. We go where there are crowds. Many people call us and say they want to accept Jesus Christ into their lives. We’ve also seen people healed after reading the paper. Even people of other religions have found salvation through it.

I want to thank the ministry for preparing and distributing the paper, and for standing with us in advancing the Kingdom of God. We deeply appreciate your support and hold this ministry in high regard. We love you.”
Erimas, CITA missionary.

The international ministry “Christ Is The Answer” has been active in Ethiopia since 2021. Since then, churches and a missionary center have been established, and an evangelistic newspaper is now published in four languages. In partnership with local ministers, the ministry organizes large-scale evangelistic crusades in stadiums across the country.
