Temporary accommodation and food, as well as social and psychological assistance for TDPs were organized by the missionaries of the Christ is the Answer ministries in Ternopil and Rivne.
According to the minister of the ministries Viktor Khrystiuk, it was possible to accommodate more than 80 people from Kyiv and the Kyiv region in a hotel in Rivne for temporary accommodation with subsequent transportation of people to the west of Ukraine or beyond. The hotel provided a certain number of places for refugees. With the help of local churches, immigrants recive food, Christians communicate, pray for them, and tell about God’s love.
Ministries’ missionary Andriy Vasenda in Ternopil, as a volunteer, became responsible for providing food to refugees who stay in the city for a long time. Also, together with the team, they are preparing to support their compatriots, immigrants from the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions in a difficult time:
“We have already bought a lot of products and hygiene products, including for small children, and we have also prepared clothes for those migrants who plan to stay in Ternopil for a long time. We held a meeting of our volunteer team, at which we decided to start working with refugees in groups of 15-30 people: to help them with food, to provide them with moral support through songs, communication and psychologist consultations, as well as to tell them about God’s love and hope in Jesus Christ. We will start such activity from March 14.”
Ministers share stories of people they have met by helping them:
“A family from Irpin (Kyiv region), a man with his wife and an elderly mother, were forced to leave their hometown because the occupiers forcibly occupied their home. We helped them leave for Lviv.”
“An old man, a professor, from Kharkiv, recently suffered a stroke. I got from Kharkiv to Western Ukraine by several trains, I really needed help in moving due to my health. In Kharkiv they helped him get on the train, and in Ternopil we arranged for him to be taken to Lviv and then to Slavske (Lviv region), where he was met by his relatives.”
