Ministry team participated in a fundraising Summit

On September 12, representatives of the CITA Kyiv office attended a one-day summit of professional fundraisers “Helpers of Heroes”, who shared their experience in charity work, successful communication with donors and cases of fundraising.
The Summit was addressed by representatives of the Presidential Administration, USAID Mission to Ukraine, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the International Renaissance Foundation, the European Endowment For Democracy, the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, the Come Back Alive Charity Foundation and others. In total, the Summit gathered more than 30 speakers.
“The first thing that inspires and impresses is the number of charitable organizations that support war victims and our defenders. Events like this are motivating and make you realize that the hardships we face are not so unique, because everyone else is going through the same thing. It was very cool that small and big BFs could get to know each other better, share experiences and socialize. After the Summit, there is hope for a better future for charitable work in Ukraine, which is now developing as a part of our culture.
I believe that the good that people are capable of doing is God’s plan, that we are called to do it, and that it is our Mission as believers to respond to the challenges of our time. We have received effective tools to serve people and better understand their needs,” said Maryna Poltavets, Regional Communications and International Relations Manager.
How to conduct charitable work in crisis conditions? Can artificial intelligence replace a fundraiser? How to avoid fundraising fraud? How to build a fundraising process from the ground up for sustainable success? How to encourage donors to become regular partners? What is the role of fundraising in territorial communities? These, as well as the importance of organizational values and cybersecurity, were discussed in the event’s thematic blocks.
In addition, professional fundraisers led workshops, in particular “Why and how to fundraise abroad?”, where they talked about the steps to take for successful fundraising abroad.
During the workshop “Working with Businesses: Secrets and Pitfalls,” they talked about how to establish and develop partnerships with businesses and public figures to successfully involve them in fundraising initiatives.
At the workshop “Avoiding Financial Risks” the participants received practical advice from representatives of the banking sector on how to secure the collected funds and how not to violate tax legislation.
Such a summit was held for the second time and gathered up to a thousand participants.
