First issue of CITA newspaper printed in Gumuz language for Ethiopia

Christ Is the Answer Ministry in Addis Ababa has printed the first issue of an evangelistic newspaper in the Gumuz language for the Gambela region of western Ethiopia.
“During the Ministry’s tenth crusade in Ethiopia last summer, I was talking to our media team in Addis Ababa about the western part of Ethiopia. When they said that the people there have their own language, the Holy Spirit spoke to me in my heart to start an evangelistic newspaper in the Gumuz language. We put a lot of effort into achieving this goal. And it has come true! This is a historic moment for the people of Gumuz because for the first time they have seen a Christian newspaper in their mother tongue,” said CITA ministry director Taras Sen.
According to Erubal Mulatu, senior minister of the CITA ministry in Ethiopia, eight Christ is the Answer missionaries are serving in the region where the Gumuz people live, and four churches have been planted. They are currently working to open another.
Christ is the Answer International Ministry publishes the newspaper in five languages: Ukrainian, Amharic, Oromo and Gumuz (Ethiopia), and Spanish for Latin America.
A Portuguese edition for Brazil and a Somali edition for Somalis in their language are in the works.
Gambela is one of the 12 regions (states) of Ethiopia, located in western Ethiopia near the border with South Sudan.
The Gumuz language is spoken by 179 thousand people. Linguists say that only primary school textbooks and local folklore exist in this language. But now there is a newspaper called Christ is the Answer.
