CITA missionaries met online
28 August 2024
A regular meeting of the missionary and staff team of Christ Is the Answer Ministry was held on August 21. Missionaries from the Eastern, Western and Southern regions shared their latest news and received the traditional spiritual encouragement from the Ministry director. A new executive director was also introduced to the entire team.
Ministry director Taras Sen shared about the tenth gospel crusade in Ethiopia, which was held with the support of CITA together with local pastors in Boditi. He also shared about teaching and communicating with the students of the missionary school in the daughter church “Christ is the Answer” in Addis Ababa. He reported that they were able to sign an agreement with a television station in Ethiopia to broadcast evangelistic programs from the ministry on a regular basis.
Olena Volkodaieva became the new executive director of CITA, whose responsibilities will include developing communication among staff in all areas of the ministry.
Traditionally, the director shares spiritual encouragement with the participants of the meeting. This time he spoke about God’s power for life and ministry, about the need for quality time with God.
He recalled the words of Jesus Christ in the Acts of the Apostles about the disciples’ acceptance of the power of the Holy Spirit and the Apostle Paul’s statement that the kingdom of God is not in word but in power:
“To maintain and advance the work of God, Christians, and especially missionaries, need the power of God. The danger for us is that we become volunteers by doing good deeds. But first of all, we need to bring the Word of God, which is not accepted by people without His power, because there are many people who are traumatized by the war, possessed and addicted. To be influential, we need the strength that we can draw from God.
The missionaries shared about their activities in the regions of Ukraine where they serve in local churches.
In Zaporizhzhia and Rivne they continue street evangelism with feeding the poor. In Zaporizhzhia, a team of volunteers is conducting an Alpha course for new converts and meetings with prisoners, as well as children’s clubs.
Missionary teams from the Southern Region visit a nursing home, continue chaplaincy in prisons, military units and hospitals in the Mykolaiv region. During the summer they held children’s camps in villages and cities.
Missionaries from Ternopil hold meetings for widows and seriously wounded soldiers in hospitals, and come home to visit people with disabilities for fellowship and humanitarian aid.
In the Kharkiv region, a CITA missionary and volunteers hold daily meetings in the church, evangelizing in the remote, almost extinct areas where the elderly still live. In the villages of the region, they organize home groups and recreational activities for children.
Traditionally, the meeting ended with a time of prayer for everyone’s needs.
