CITA Missionaries from Mykolaiv Served in German Churches

7 February 2025

From February 1-5, missionaries from Christ is the Answer in Mykolaiv visited three churches in the German city of Schorndorf, located in the Stuttgart district in western Germany. Their goal was to encourage and inspire people to serve God and others.

Their visit included a German church and two Slavic congregations, where they participated in worship services, engaged in fellowship, and provided spiritual counseling in homes. One of these churches consists mainly of refugees from Ukraine, including people from Mariupol (Donetsk region).

According to Hennadiy Holota, a CITA missionary from Mykolaiv, the German church they visited actively ministers to the city’s youth, organizing programs aimed at bringing young people closer to God and the church.

The Slavic churches, unable to hold official public events, focus on collecting and sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine. They also visit refugee camps and engage in evangelism.

Hennadiy shared the background of this trip:
At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, when Mykolaiv was under siege, my wife and son left for Germany for six months. Through Aliona’s initiative, we partnered with local churches and, with the approval of city authorities in Schorndorf and Stuttgart, began organizing large-scale evangelistic events in public squares.”

For the brothers and sisters in these churches, the personal testimonies of faith from the Holota family were especially impactful. They shared about God’s miraculous healing from life-threatening illnesses, His supernatural intervention in their journey to parenthood despite a medical diagnosis of infertility, and how God provided them with a new home through the support of AUU CEFP (The All-Ukrainian Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith-Pentecostals) churches after a Russian missile completely destroyed their house.

“Our desire was to spiritually strengthen each of these churches so they could be a light in the place where God has called them and fulfill their mission,” shared missionary Hennadiy Holota.

The missionaries returned inspired, seeing the impact of their ministry on those in need of spiritual encouragement.

In Mykolaiv, Christ is the Answer missionaries serve in hospitals, hospices, shelters, rehabilitation centers, and prisons throughout the city and region.
