Charity eye clinics: start of ministry in Odesa region
9 October 2023
For the first time, a free eye clinic was held in Balta, Odesa region, in cooperation with Christ is the Answer Ministry and the Ukrainian Protestant Church.
The event was attended by 40 people, who received an eye exam and free eyeglasses, as well as hearing the Gospel.
“The effectiveness of the eye clinic as an evangelistic tool is that it helps people come to church for the first time and learn more about it. Inviting people to the event was not a problem, but we waited long for a doctor because there is only one for the whole community. The clinic was attended by people between the ages of 40 and 60. The eye equipment has now been transferred to our central church in Odesa for further development of this ministry,” commented Dmytro Shevchenko, coordinator of the eye clinic in the Odesa region.
The eye clinic ministry continues to evangelize not only in Ukraine, but also abroad.
In September, 70 people of different nationalities (Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Koreans) came to an eye clinic in Uzbekistan. In addition to a free consultation with a doctor and free glasses, they heard the Gospel.
“In Uzbekistan, freedom for Christians is limited, it is difficult to preach, there is some oppression from the authorities, from Muslims, but God has ways (through the eye clinic – ed.) through which His word reaches and saves people,” shared Taras Sen, director of the CITA Ministry, on his Facebook page.
Local pastors in El Salvador and Mexico are already organizing and conducting their own eye clinics and preaching Christ to the descendants of the Zapotec tribe after the Ukrainian CITA missionaries’ trip to Latin America.
Christ is the Answer International Ministry eye clinics operate in 13 countries.
